44th Annual Foundation Walk Raises Over $95,000

Nearly 100 teams and more than 1,100 walkers gathered on November 2 for the 44th Annual AHRC Foundation Walk, raising over $95,000 in support of children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities across Long Island.

It was a day defined by energy, community, and commitment.

Supporters of the AHRC Foundation Walk stand under the AHRC Walk arch, getting ready to cut the ribbon and begin walking.

Team Amanda 2025 led all fundraisers, raising more than $13,000 in celebration of Amanda and in support of services that strengthen lives every day. Residence-based Team Rugby brought together housemates, staff, and families from Westbury. School communities rallied behind Mighty-Marcus, while Go TY TY!, led by Leng Lao and her son Tyler, once again turned personal gratitude into meaningful action.

Across the grounds, families connected, self-advocates shared information and resources, and nearly 100 volunteers helped ensure a seamless morning. When the ribbon was cut beneath the banner “Moving ahead, leaving no one behind,” it reflected more than a theme — it reflected the spirit of the day.

Funds raised through the Walk directly support education and early intervention services for children, residential and community inclusion programs for adults, healthcare access, guardianship advocacy, self-advocacy initiatives, and transition opportunities for young adults preparing for greater independence. Through the Foundation’s grantmaking and direct support to our affiliates, these dollars strengthen programs that serve people and families throughout Long Island.

The Walk is more than an annual tradition. It is a visible reminder of what is possible when a community shows up for one another.

Thank you to every team captain, walker, volunteer, and sponsor who made this year’s event such a success.
