Blake Leonard Certified Sommelier & President, Stew Leonard’s Wines & Spirits
Blake Leonard, the oldest daughter of Kim and Stew Leonard Jr., is a member of the third generation of family-owned farm fresh food retailer Stew Leonard’s. She grew up working at Stew Leonard’s, first as a cashier and later in the store’s ice cream, coffee, and art departments. Her passion for wine grew while she attended college and spent her summers filling the shelves and breaking down wine boxes at Stew Leonard’s Wines in Norwalk, Conn.
After receiving a B.A. in Cultural and Media Studies from the New School in 2008, Blake further cultivated her knowledge of the wine industry as a sales representative for Gallo Wines, focusing on merchandizing and sales in the Metro Los Angeles area. She was later promoted to a hospitality and tasting room specialist for Gallo in Napa, California. During this time, she additionally graduated from the Accelerated Wine & Beverage Program at the Culinary Institute of America in Napa and became a Certified Sommelier through the Court of Master Sommelier.
After returning to the East Coast, Blake continued to hone her sales and marketing skills with notable NYC-based wine importers, including Terroir Selections. In 2012, Blake joined NY-based importer Domaine Select Wine Estates as a Marketing Associate. Within her first year, she was promoted to Associate Brand Manager of Wines where she was the primary contact for the wine portfolio and responsible for the execution of wine marketing plans including P&L's, advertising, promotion, digital programs, and point of sale.
Blake holds her MS in Integrated Marketing from New York University. In 2016, she became a spokesperson and consultant for Stew Leonard’s Wines & Spirits, helping to bring wines & spirits to the modern-day drinker. She was recognized as one of the Future 40 honorees by Wine Enthusiast magazine in 2023 and is a member of Les Dames d'Escoffier International, a philanthropic organization of women leaders in the food, beverage, and hospitality industries.
Blake lives in Westport, Connecticut with her husband and three children.
